How do I start a story?

Open any story, choose your Avatar and one of the Starting Scenarios, then tap New Play. Want to pick up where you left off? Just tap Continue Play.

What is an Avatar? (Session Settings)

Your Avatar is you, inside the story. You can set the name the story calls you, along with any details you'd like reflected as the story unfolds. Your Avatar belongs to your account, so the one you pick applies across your stories rather than to a single session.

What is a User Note? (Session Settings)

A User Note is where you write down anything you'd like the story to remember. There are two: one that applies to every story you play, and one for the story you're in right now. For example:

1. Your preferences. Example: My character never drinks alcohol.
2. Details about the world. Example: This story is set in winter.

What is Output Length? (Session Settings)

Output Length lets you choose how long the story's replies can be. Longer replies may use more Credits, so pick whatever suits the way you like to play.

What is Personalization?

Personalization helps us show you stories you'll enjoy. Go to MY > Content Settings, where Content Preference sets the kind of content you want to see and Category Display Order lets you arrange story categories in the order you like. Your recommendations are based on what you set here, so feel free to update it anytime.

The story forgot something, or went its own way.

This can happen, especially in longer stories. If there's something you'd like the story to always keep in mind, add it to your User Note.

My message was refused.

Sometimes we'll decline to send a particular message on to the story. This is a check on what you wrote, so it happens before the story replies — you aren't charged any Credits for it, it only affects that one message, and your story hasn't been blocked. Try rephrasing and sending it again.

I'm seeing an error, or a reply was cut off.

Sorry about that. Please check your internet connection and try again. If it keeps happening, send us a note through Feedback and we'll look into it.

I deleted a session by mistake. Can I get it back?

Unfortunately, deleted sessions can't be recovered.

Can I create my own stories or chat with characters?

Not yet, but we're working on both. For now, every story on ToonShow is a ToonShow Original, made by our team.
